  [S1] Newspaper Clipping, 12 Jun 1938, The Times Dispatch (Richmond, VA). Cape Charles - The funeral of Clarence W. Holland, 61, prominent citizen of Eastville, whose death occurred at his home, Holland Hedge, Friday following a lengthy illness, was conducted at the residence yesterday by the Rev. John Curtin Runkle of Christ Episocpal Church. Interment was in the churchyard. The pallbearers were nephews of the deceased. Clarence Whittaker Holland was a native of Northampton, where he was born at Poplar Hill, the old Holland homestead, the son of Nathaniel L. Holland of this county and Juliet Holland of Florida. His ancestry included distinguished old Eastern Shore families. Educated at Margaret Academy in Onancock and at the University of Virginia, Mr. Holland, until prevented by ill health, was engaged successfully in the produce business and had extensive farming interests. FOr many years he was active in Christ Episcopal Church, where he was a vestryman, and a leader in the social and civic life of the community. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Eastville. Mr. Holland is survived by his wife, who was Miss Anna Johnston of SHippensburg, Pa; a son, Clarence W. Holland, Jr.; three brothers, Edward Holland Sr. Dr. Griffin W. Holland, Eastville, and Dr. William W. Holland, Baltimore, and two grandsons, Clarence W. Holland 3d and Jack Moore Holland.
