  [S1] Newspaper Clipping, 23 Feb 1904, Baltimore Sun. Edward J. Penniman died Sunday evening at his home, Dixon Park, Mount Washington, after a short illness of kidney trouble. Mr. Penniman had been suffering for several years from the same trouble, but had not been considered seriously ill of late. Friday he complained of being sick and went to bed Saturday. He is survived by a widow, who was Miss Gosnell, and seven children, Messrs. Artur, Edward Otho, Harry, Douglas and Nelson Penniman and Misses Sarah D. and Mary Yates Penniman. He is also survived by a brother, Mr. Yates Penniman and two sisters, Mrs. D. S. Briscoe and Mrs. Philip Littig. Mr. Penniman was born in Baltimore 59 years ago and was the son of Augustus Penniman. He was educated at Knapp's Institute and after leaving school entered the dry goods and notion business. At the outbreak of the Civil War he joined a Maryland regiment of the Federal army and served throughout the conflict. At the close of the war he became bookkeeper in the First National Bank, being cashier when that institution was combined with another. At the time of his death he was the second vice-president of the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company. The funeral will take place tomorrow from St. John's Protestant Episcopal Church, Mount Washington, Rev. Mr. Watkins, rector of the church. Interment will be in Greenmount, and the pallbearers will be members of the vestry of St. John's
