  [S1] Newspaper Clipping, 11 Jul 2010, Reading Eagle. Carl Anthony Gangemi, 77, Spring Township, died June 27, 2010, in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Dolores Elaine (Pawling) Gangemi. Carl was born in West Reading on May 16, 1933, a son of the late Anthony and Helen (Symanowicz) Gangemi. His education included Reading High School and two years at Albright College. He was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War with the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Russel M. Butterweck Detachment. He was a past officer of the military order "Devil Dogs." He served with the 1st Marine Division Airwing as a sergeant in Korea. Carl was a renowned tenor saxophonist and also played clarinet and flute. He was remembered as playing tenor sax with the "Cadillacs," as well as other bands throughout his musical career. The last 10 years of performing were with his wife's band ("Dee & the Diamonds"), in which he played sax and clarinet and was a vocalist. He held a first class FCC license and had previously worked for Chanel 51 as Master Control Operator. He also worked for Conrail in the Maintenance of Way Division. Carl held an Extra Class Ham Radio license, with the call letters KT3P. He was a member of the Reading Radio Club. He was predeceased by his twin sister, Doris Lawrence, in 2006. Other survivors include daughters: Elizabeth, Gina, Linda, Nancy, Christa; sons, C. William and Anthony; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Honoring Carl's request, there were no services or viewing. Burial was private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, was in charge of arrangements.
