Lidgerwood, 52, steel manufacturer and philanthropist was found shot to death in his home here with a shotgun by his side. Police listed his death as suicide. He had been in poor health recently. Lidgerwood was vice president of the LIdgerwood Manufacturing Company of New York City and Newark. His brother, John, president of the company, denied the existence of financial worries. Lidgerwood's philanthropic activities included the gift of land for a city playground here. He maintained a large hunting preserve in the northern part of the county. The Lidgerwood manufacturing Company was founded by his father, John H. Lidgerwood. In addition to the Newark plant, it had a factory in Elizabeth. Mr. Lidgerwood was a member of the Morristown Club and the Morris County Golf Club. he is survived by his wife, a son William, a daughter, Miss Jean Lidgerwood, and three sisters, the Misses Harriet V. and Florence V. Lidgerwood of Morristown, and Miss Mary Lidgerwood, of London, England
