Ellen E. Campbell, 89, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at her residence, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Melvin H. Campbell, past vice president of Campbell Chain Co.,
Born October 16, 1913, in York, a daughter of teh late Frank A. and Susan M. (Myers) Eyster,co-founders of tehe Eyster Wiser Foundry. She was a graduate of York Collegiate Institute and a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She was also a member of the Board of the VNA; the York College Woman's Auxiliary; the Junior League of York; the Historical Society of York County, and the County Club of York. She was a strong, honorable and handsome woman who devoted a great deal of time to the helping of others and the betterment of her community. She was also a wonderful, courageous woman and a great mother.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by a daughter, Susan C. Lloyd of Philadelphia, a son, Melvin H. Campbell, Jr., of York; four grandchildren, Ellen C. Lloyd and Thomas B. Lloyd, both of Philadelphia, Ian B. Campbell of San Francisco, Calif., and Hannah B. Campbell of Los Angeles, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Thomas C. Eglin and Samuel S. Eglin, both of Philadelphia; and a brother, Franklin Eyster of York.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Eyster of York.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, 2215 Brandywine Lane, with her pastor, Rev. Janyce Jorgensten officiating. Private burial will precede the funeral in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
